Duties and responsibilities:
As Senior Mechanical Engineer within the shipbuilding industry, the duties and task that the candidate shall carry on include:
· To support and work within the Mechanical division at Ghenova Australia in order to deliver mechanical systems expertise for naval ships.
· Systems responsibility includes but not limited to:
- Ship Propulsion Plant
- Propulsion Transmission and Propulsor Systems
- Propulsion Support Systems – Fuel, Oil, Water
- Auxiliary Systems – Pumps, Piping Systems
- Heating & Air‐conditioning Systems
- Refrigeration System
- Sea Water Systems – Firemain, Sprinkler and Washdown
- Fresh Water Systems
- Wastewater Systems
- Aviation Fuel Systems
- Compressed Air and Gas Systems
- Hydraulic Systems
· To provide Mechanical Engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
· Complete Mechanical systems design for naval ship systems, applying robust systems engineering process.
· Create engineering designs to integrate platform Mechanical systems into naval vessels.
· Undertake technical investigations and root cause analysis to develop innovative engineering solutions.
· Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established standards.
· Support and work effectively as an extension of the Mechanical discipline within Ghenova Australia located in Melbourne.
· Work effectively within the broader Ghenova team to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs.
· Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule, and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
· Plan and administrate design coordination meetings with engineering project stakeholders.
· Plan and administrate Design Review meetings with the Client.
· Developing the work under Ghenova’s brand standards.
- Provide naval engineering expertise and
updated knowledge in the main current Australian Sea Defense Programs.
- Other duties which may be required from time
to time.
Essential Skills / Qualifications for the candidate:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- IT Skills. The candidate must prove experience within at least all the following Naval Design Software: FORAN, Siemens NX and Microstation.
- Languages: English.
- - Security Clearance: The candidate must hold a Baseline Security Clearance as a minimum (or be eligible to apply).
Employment Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience with the Naval Industry conducting works in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mechanical engineering experience in Military projects.
- Involvement in Frigate/AWD/DDG/AOR projects developing a Mechanical Engineer role.
- Implication in naval military projects conducting an engineering role.
- Experience working with shipyards and naval companies in marine engineering projects.
