Position: Senior Media Adviser – Office of the Leader of the WA Liberal Party
Contract: Full Time - Term of Government (TOG)
Salary subject to negotiation
Role:
- The Senior Media Adviser identifies, develops and delivers state-wide media and communication strategies for the Leader of the WA Liberal Party. The successful applicant will also have a range of portfolio responsibilities within the Leader’s office.
- Reports to Chief of Staff.
- Provide communications counsel and advice to the Leader of the WA Liberal Party, Members of Parliament, internal and external stakeholders
- Identify, develop and coordinate media opportunities and risks for the Leader of the WA Liberal Party and Parliamentary Liberal Party
- Monitor and analyse media coverage and deliver regular updates to the Chief of Staff and Leader of the WA Liberal Party
- Create and deliver communication campaigns to support strategic objectives
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with key personnel and stakeholders
- Policy development and speech writing
- Prepare media statements, briefing notes, talking points and associated content to support the Leader of the WA Liberal Party
- Manage the development and distribution of media statements across a range of portfolio areas
- Oversight and management of digital communications including update of website content and electronic distribution of media and communications material
- Provide policy planning, communication strategy and support across areas of portfolio responsibility
- Compilation and production of content to support parliamentary activity of the Leader and Parliamentary Liberal Party
- Management and development of key messaging, branding and relevant artwork production of external communications for the Parliamentary Liberal Party
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of media and communication efforts
- Draft correspondence for the Leader of the WA Liberal Party on matters of policy and portfolio responsibilities
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in identification and delivery of strategic communications and media management.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with regional media and stakeholders.
- Ability to produce, deliver and manage content to tight deadlines in a dynamic working environment.
- High level written, verbal and digital communication skills.
- Strong research skills, including the ability to critically analyse issues and information.
- Leadership skills to assist the professional development, learning and motivation of team members alongside demonstrated initiative to accept new challenges.
- Understanding of parliamentary processes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
