Senior Medical Receptionist

About the business

We are two medical specialists (in neurology and immunology) who have recently relocated from interstate. We are setting up our private practice in Hobart and are looking for a full-time Senior Medical Receptionist/ Practice Manager. As the practice is new, it is anticipated that additional staff will be required as the year progresses. When this occurs, the practice management aspect of the role will develop.

About the role

The role itself is Medical Reception consisting of all the usual responsibilities associated with that role (including but not limited to):

• First point of contact for patients and other medical professionals
• Booking and billing appointments - using Gentu software
• Phone and email communications
• Ordering stock and medications

The hours are full-time - 38 hours per week 

The ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Medical Receptionist (with preferably Gentu and Medical Specialist experience). You will be reliable, efficient, hard-working, and able to multitask and stay focused. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. You will have a genuinely caring nature with exceptional people skills as well as excellent customer service skills, display a professional manner and appearance, as well as maintain patient confidentiality at all times. You will understand that the best way to diffuse difficult situations is with calm and compassion.

Skills and experience

• Medical reception skills are highly desirable
• Attention to detail and strong written language skills
• Experience with Gentu software preferred
• Medical specialist experience is an advantage  
• Exceptional people skills are required
• Must be able to display a professional manner and appearance and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
