About the role:

The Senior Mental Health Clinician provides clinical support to the Mental Health Clinicians and Wellbeing Consultants in the Supporting Minds Team and holds an agreed clinical case load.  This role supports the Program Manager to provide clinical support to a Multidisciplinary Team which aligns with the strategic goals of Mental Health Services, and Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) and delivers outstanding Mental Health services to the community.

This position is responsible for the provision of short-term, contemporary, person-led Mental Health services including:

  • Assessment of customer Mental Health needs and formulation of relevant therapeutic plan
  • Delivery of both individual and group programs
  • Delivery of high-quality evidence-based intervention and advice
  • Regular review of customer treatment plans and goals
  • Consistent approach to suicide safety planning
  • Provision of support to team members, including ad hoc practice supervision and debriefing
  • Provision of practice supervision as part of a team of practice supervisors across Wesley Mission                            Queensland - Mental Health Services. 
  • Hold some portfolio responsibilities as required 

In this role you will deliver intervention as a part of a Multidisciplinary Team which aligns with the strategic goals of Mental Health Services and Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ). This role requires work across multiple sites including community co-locations. 

About you: 

To be effective in the position, the successful applicant will have and be able to demonstrate the following personal attributes, skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Counselling or Nursing.
  • Current registration with relevant professional body:
    • For Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists: Eligibility for full registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is required. 
    • For Social Workers: The possession of a tertiary degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.
    • For Counsellors: The possession of a tertiary degree in Counselling providing eligibility for registration with either Australian Counselling Association or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. 
  • Mental Health Accreditation for Social Workers and Occupational Therapists or evidence of actively working towards same.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with and supporting people experiencing mental illness and/or suicidal crisis, and their carers. 
  • Demonstrated cultural competence working with LGBTIQAP+ community 
  • Demonstrated ability and proficiency in the timely receipting, appropriate documenting and accurate record keeping into computerised programs.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills particularly in establishing and maintaining rapport with staff, customers and their carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage individual caseload whilst meeting service and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognise other needs that WMQ can assist customers with and provide relevant and timely referrals.
