Our Telfer operation in Australia is now recruiting for the position of Senior- Metallurgist.

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. The Role
Reporting to the Superintendent - Metallurgy we are seeking a Senior Plant Metallurgist to support our team at Telfer. Please note this role is on an 8/6 Roster FIFO from Perth, flying on Thursdays.
The purpose of this role is on providing supportive leadership and operational direction to the Metallurgy work teams, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans.
You will lead and support a team of Plant Metallurgists, Metallurgical Technicians and Graduates. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment.
Other key accountabilities include:
- Demonstrate strong technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and guiding the team to deliver on section goals.
- Deliver leadership with the highest professional and ethical standards including setting priorities and allocating work to all relevant personnel.
- Recognising and supporting key personnel for career development; identify high potential personnel and support the performance review and management processes
- Supporting and investigating when work is stopped due to an unsafe act or condition, ensuring actions to mitigate the risk are implemented.
- Ensuring a safety first work culture by participating in site safety initiatives.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders and setup work for execution
- Contributing to budgets, schedules and plans
- Delivering on objectives outlined in workplans aligned to the site business planning and PoaP
Key requirements of the role include:
- A relevant degree qualification in in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
- Extensive exposure to base metal or gold mineral processing operations
- Experience with metallurgical accounting systems in complex processing applications
- Demonstrated continuous improvement experience and effective delivery of continuous improvement projects
- Exposure to SAG milling, gravity concentration and flotation unit processes within the gold / base metal industry
- Radiation Safety Officer (Fixed Gauge) license (Desirable)
- C Class Manual Drivers licence
