We are currently seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join us at the Rosebery Mine.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Planning Engineer, the role of Mine Planning Engineer is to deliver short term plans that support the planning requirements of the operation as well as develop and optimise designs that support future expansions, diamond drill programs and deliver optimised block designs.
This role is offered on a flexible arrangement for the right candidate either residential in Rosebery, Drive in/Drive out (DIDO) from Tasmanian locations or Fly in/Fly Out (FIFO) from within Australia. Opportunities on a job sharing/part time basis are available as well as a flexible hybrid model working from home, our Burnie office and from site.
With demonstrated underground mining experience, you will have well-developed skills and personal attributes including the following:
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar degree supported by experience in Mine Planning.
Significant practical experience with underground mining methods
Short and long term Mine Planning skills; including stope designs, development designs and economic panel design compilation.
Sound understanding of underground mine ventilation, geotechnical and mine geology.
Essential to the role is your hands-on experience with Deswik and/or other Mine Planning software.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Development of panel designs which optimise value and meet the long term mine plan.
Delivery of development plans to meet mid-term scheduling requirements.
Optimisation of stope shapes and delivery of Stope Note Commentaries.
Evaluation of mine design, sequencing and schedules to optimise plans and deliver improvement opportunities.
Work closely with Operations, Geology, Production, Geotechnical, Ventilation and Survey team members to deliver safe and practical designs.
Communicate plans through close working relations with Operations.
Maintaining clear document control.

The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
MMG has an office in Burnie, giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
