Capricorn Metals Ltd is an Australian gold producer. The company operates in two independent project regions in Western Australia: The Karlawinda Gold Project in the Pilbara region and the Mt Gibson Gold Project, which is under development in the Mid-West region.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Open Pit Surveyor to join our expanding team at the Karlawinda Gold Project. You will set out designs on a daily basis and provide blueprints to operators to ensure excavations adhere to engineering specifications. At all times, this shall be done safely, in accordance with all statutory obligations as well as business safety, health, and environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establishment and maintenance of survey control networks, in accordance with Mine Survey Code of Practice
- Volume calculations, stockpile, landform surveys and Pit volume reporting
- End of Month/ End of week reporting
- Ore markup and delineation.
- Grade control, Resource holes set out/ pick up.
- Blast hole surveys, volume reporting.
- Maintaining up to date site plans and services information
- Tenement and lease boundary surveys
- Slope stability monitoring and reporting of pit wall movements; including installation of prisms/ tilt sensors.
- Ensuring engineered designs are constructed to design parameters; and,
- Accurately record all production information in electronic or paper format ensuring quality and integrity is maintained. Maintain survey records, both electronic and digital copies and ensuring quality and integrity is maintained.
About you
Whilst you’ll ideally have experience as an open pit Mine Surveyor, you may also come from an underground mining background or be someone who possesses strong civil/construction surveying experience and is looking to change industries.
- You must hold a Tertiary qualification – Degree or Diploma in Surveying (Mine) and be a WA Authorised Mine Surveyor (Grade 2 or higher).
- 5+ years mine surveying experience and sound understanding of survey principles within open pit mining operations.
- Proficient in the use of current survey equipment including Trimble RTK GPS, Trimble Total Stations and DJI UAVs
- RePL/ARoC rated for Multirotors up to 25kg.
- Excellent communication skills to advise and guide mining teams in daily operations.
- Good working knowledge of surveying software including, Surpac, Trimble Business Center and Quickslope.
- Working knowledge of Agisoft Metashape for processing UAV data
- Working knowledge of PPK processing software (True View/ ASP Suite)
- Strong safety ethic with positive attitude and set an example for others.
- Remote Pilot License (preferred)
- Current Manual Driver Licence
- National Police Clearance
