An exciting opportunity exists to join the Occupational Therapy team at Ryde Hospital. This position provides day to day senior oversight of the acute Occupational Therapy service. Alongside the Head of Department, the senior leads and supports the team to deliver high-quality services to patients in the Acute care setting. This position joins a well-established team of Occupational Therapists and Assistants.

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.
The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.
What you'll be doing
As a senior member of the Occupational therapy team you have the opportunity to contribute to staff and service development. You will oversee a small team providing evidence informed assessment and intervention to patients admitted to Ryde hospital for Acute care. This includes patients admitted under Stroke pathway care, medical and surgical teams.
The Senior Occupational Therapist supports complex case management and provides supervision to level 1/2 Occupational Therapists and allied health assistants.With support from the Head of department, the role assists in identify clinical service requirements and contributes to planning for future service needs at Ryde.Ryde Campus includes also includes Rehabilitation services and a newly established role within the Emergency Department.
Ryde hospital is undergoing a three year redevelopment that will lead to the expansion of clinical services for the local population it serves.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
- Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current occupational therapy practice within an acute care setting or equivalent. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Have the ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement.
