  • Women's and Children's Health Network, Forensic Service - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Enfield 
  • Salary - Classification - AHP3 - Allied Health Professional L3 - $102,641 to $110,094 pro rata.
  • Employment Part time (0.5 FTE) - 12 -month contract  (opportunity for conversion to permanency)

Overview

The Women's and Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.

We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. We also provide important community-based services, of which the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is an integral part.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services / perinatal women.

The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS Forensic Services team as a Senior Occupational Therapist in a part time capacity.

The Forensic CAMHS Service provides an in-reach mental health service to Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre (formerly known as Adelaide Youth Training Centre). The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of Clinicians from a variety of disciplines (including Nursing, Social Work, OT, Psychology and Speech Pathology) as well as Aboriginal Social & Emotional Wellbeing Workers who bring a high level of cultural expertise to the team. Forensic CAMHS also provides a service to the Adelaide Youth Court to triage young people listed to appear in the Youth Court for mental health concerns and provide mental health screening of young people where possible.

The Senior Occupational Therapist, is an extensively experienced and highly competent clinician who delivers advanced clinical services to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health population who access forensic services and also assumes a clinical/professional leadership role within the team, undertaking professional supervision of occupational therapy staff working within their team or another team.

In this role you will be responsible for contributing to improvements in the quality, safety and community needs-driven distribution of services across CAMHS and within the specific service area. You will work with all allied health staff, nursing and medical staff, as well as service coordinators, lead psychiatry and managers and other stakeholders on service delivery development, and practice requirements to meet client needs and demand.

About You

To be eligible you must  have an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

To be successful in this role, you will have advanced knowledge in at least one area of clinical practice relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health and demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical work within the individual’s professional speciality area, including group work.

You will need to possess a high level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and work with other professionals, facilitate group functions and work as a team member and work with a high degree of responsibility with limited supervision and direction.

If you have demonstrated ability to carry out assessments and interventions of a highly complex nature with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, and their families using a range of theoretical models in assessment and intervention, then this role is for you.
