Senior Officer Partnerships and Events

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $93,611.96 plus up to 13% superannuation

What we are looking for:

Gympie Regional Council has an exciting, permanent position that aims to support the Coordinator Tourism and Destination Development to grow the prosperity of the region by encouraging and identifying opportunities, focusing on tourism and Events.

Under the direction of the Coordinator Tourism and Destination Development, the Senior Officer Partnership and Events will coordinator the delivery of Gympie Regional Council’s Tourism and Events Partnership Program.

This role supports the Coordinator Tourism and Destination Development to attract, retain and nurture events that deliver social and economic benefit for the Gympie region, particularly in the high priority areas of sport, agricultural tourism, music, arts and culture and business activation events.

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Events, Business Development, Strategic Sponsorship Development, Tourism) and/or substantial experience to perform the primary role and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating events and public programs.
  • Demonstrated administrative and customer service experience relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrated time management, risk management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team in a professional manner with the ability to be tactful and discrete when dealing with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software including MS Office suite including processing invoices and monitoring budgets.
  • Ability to work proactively and solve problems creatively and efficiently.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Coordinate Council’s partnership program and the delivery of contracted sponsorship deliverables to the partner ensuring benefits are delivered to Council.
  • Facilitate the assessment and approval of sponsorship applications received by Council.
  • Develop, assess and monitor compliance of contractual agreements and prepare post event evaluation assessing ROI.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Council staff, Chamber of Commerce’s, Businesses, Tourism Bodies, Volunteers and contractors to create, plan and deliver events and activities across the region.
  • Support the Coordinator Tourism and Destination Development in the attraction of major events to the region through completion of ROI assessments, lead generation and liaison with prospective events.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications to support marketing and promotional activities for events including the collation of copy, images and associated logos.
  • Assist the sponsored organisation in navigating Council’s regulatory and compliance requirements to ensure the successful delivery of events.
  • Actively promote the outgoing Events Partnership Program through presentations and approaches to a diverse range of internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Support the Coordinator Tourism and Destination Development to develop and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines and sponsorship management systems including preparation and implementation of all administrative and financial requirements.
  • Perform any other duties that are reasonably within the competency, skills and training of the incumbent.
