If you want to help shape the future of Frankston, now is the time to join our team!About the positionCouncil's People & Culture Department is looking for a Senior Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer who will be responsible for assisting in the development, review, implementation, administration and education of Council's health, safety and well-being programs across the organisation including onsite support for our Operations Department (located in Seaford).The main responsibilities will include:
- Pro-actively supporting managers and employees in the implementation and application of OH&S programs.
- Consulting, advising and guiding managers and staff on a broad range of health and safety matters including improvements of local documentation and OHS processes.
- Complete incident investigations and reviews and ensure agreed controls are implemented.
- Maintain OHS records as part of organisation compliance.
- Develop, plan and implement OHS projects to reduce operational risks; and
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic Occupational Health Safety and well-being plans.
- A Diploma qualification and/or higher in occupational health and safety or related field coupled with extensive experience in OHS roles.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, the Accident Compensation Act, OHS Regulations, Codes of Practices and other relevant legislation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships as the first point of contact for technical knowledge and advice.
- Experience in conducting OHS investigations, audits and inspection programs.
- Experience developing and implementing risk control projects in consultation with working groups.
- Experience in developing and maintaining OHS documentation and record keeping.
