MPI have partnered with a dynamic and rapidly growing gold mining company committed to sustainable mining practices and responsible resource development. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Open Pit Mine Geologist to join their dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in the planning, development, and optimization of their Open Pit mining operations, focusing on geological mapping, resource modeling, and ore grade control.
The Role
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and interpretation to support mine planning and production activities.
- Collaborate with mine engineering and operations teams to develop short-term and long-term mine plans that maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
- Provide geological guidance and support during drill and blast operations to ensure optimal fragmentation and ore recovery.
- Monitor ore grade control processes and implement strategies to maintain grade quality and optimize mill feed.
- Conduct regular geological audits and reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in mining practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior geologists and technicians.
The Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Open Pit mining, with a focus on gold deposits.
- Strong understanding of geological modeling software (e.g., Surpac, Leapfrog, Vulcan).
- Experience with grade control, ore reconciliation, and resource estimation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced mining environment.
- Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct.
