  • $100,107.84 - $106,175.89 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

With over 7000 hectares of public gardens, bushland park, sports and recreation facilities and other Open Space and an extensive urban forest, the Toowoomba region is well known for its liveability and green infrastructure. The Parks and Recreation Services Branch is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining our beautiful green infrastructure, some of which is heritage listed, and keeping up with the strong growth across the region. The team is a diverse mix of approximately 200 people working as labourers, gardeners, arborists, horticulturalists, plant operators, rangers, cleaners, project managers, landscape architects, administrators, regulators and their managers and leaders.About the PositionThe Senior OpenSpace Planning and Policy Officer position will be responsible for providing specialist professional advice and strategic leadership, in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and reporting on key policies, strategies and plans that help to shape the current and future Open Space network to support a growing community. It will consider legislation requirements, recreation opportunities and trends, and streetscape values of the Toowoomba region.The Senior OpenSpace Planning and Policy Officer will also manage strategic alliances, working relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders with the aim to provide an effective, efficient and quality Open Space and park network for all.This position will work under limited direction.About YouWe are in search of a strategic thinker with a desire to create policy and strategies that positively influence the liveability of our Region. Situated within Parks Strategy, you will be working with a diverse range of skilled professionals. You should bring depth of experience in creating strategies and providing technical advice relating to Open Space. This should include experience in undertaking best practice Open Space network Planning and knowledge of planning-related legislation and processes. Your extensive professional knowledge will play a pivotal role in visualising and realising Council’s future Open Space network, which will include keeping up with several growth fronts across the region but also retrofitting and upgrading existing Open Space assets.
