Our Operations and Maintenance Planning Group, have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operations Planner to join our newly formed Integrated Operations Planning team!
The Operations and Maintenance Planning Group is accountable for the performance and optimisation of Urban Utilities’ water and wastewater networks to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is delivered to over 600,000 properties and 1.5 million customers within Urban Utilities’ service area. This includes planning the maintenance for Urban Utilities entire asset base. The Group recognises the complexity of the accountability and has adopted a functional matrix structure to deliver performance outcomes.
The Integrated Operations Planning (IOP) process prevents work conflicts, readiness gaps and unnecessary customer impacts; therefore, preventing service excursions. For effective 9500km water network and 9700km wastewater network. The planner and process reduce safety & service risk by:
- Creating plan visibility
- Addressing work conflicts & readiness gaps
- Optimising schedule e.g. sheltering
The Senior Operational Planner, within the IOP team, specific responsibilities include;
- Develop options to sequence major works enabling work to occur at the lowest service risk.
- Problem-solving and manage change to complex job sequences and approaches as work is delivered and stages change.
- Advise on how to avoid conflicts with other activities and objectives.
- Clarify other functions objectives during major works (eg preventions, ops hub, IOP, communications)
- Define technical competency & capacity needs for execution resources for major works
- Stakeholder management in planning and change for the major works, both internally and externally

About you:
- Experience or qualifications at a degree level in engineering or business management are preferred or alternatively extensive operational experience
- A minimum of 5 years, 10yrs if no degree qualifications, Operational & maintenance planning experience and development of maintenance schedules for all equipment and plant types.
- Knowledge and experience in using Asset Management tools and frameworks such as ISO55000, GIS, Maximo, SAP and/or Ellipse.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the technical dimensions of maintaining a water utility and the associated regulatory obligations.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of basic financial concepts, such as estimating and budgeting
- Demonstrated ability to manage and shift priorities as required in support of changing business needs
