The Senior Packaging Technologist – Food Solutions role is designed to be fully functional in the 4-Day work week trial.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Packaging Technologist – Food Solutions who will be the packaging workstream leader or TPL for assigned projects with full responsibility for the development and delivery of packaging solutions for innovations and renovations into the category with sustainability top of mind. The role also ensures the level of quality, functionality, cost-effectiveness, and consumer/shopper/customer appeal are in line with the brand requirements.
The Senior Packaging Technologist – Food Solutions will play a lead role in delivering packaging cost-effectiveness initiatives as well as supporting the supply chain on operational issues, and sustainable packaging initiatives, and have effective cross-functional teamwork with Brand, R&D, Procurement, Supply Chain, Third Party Manufacturers, external suppliers, and other local and global key functions.
In addition, this role will also include the coordination of the project portfolio for the category packaging resources and will require travel to our manufacturing site in Tatura (VIC) as required.
Role responsibilities
- This position will interface with Brand Development, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product development, Processing, local/regional/global RD Packaging, and Packaging Suppliers, in order to drive consumer-focused and sustainable packaging solutions
- Developing of packaging solutions for assigned innovation, renovation, sustainable, and operational (cost savings, quality, complexity reduction) projects, on time in full, by following best practices in packaging
- Packaging TPL or workstream leader for assigned projects, working autonomy, managing activities, and communicating with Project Teams and Stakeholders
- Ensures packaging design fits for purpose validation and undergoes relevant testing protocols. Interpret results to enable specification build, create reports, and make recommendations using both established protocols, and where appropriate designing new ones
- Maintains a close working relationship with GDC & RDCs, including representation of the team in global connects, ensuring that local input is given and outputs are shared locally
- Ensuring all packaging compliance with the Unilever Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies and meets local requirements and regulations
- Cocreation of VIP and Sustainable roadmap in accordance to category targets
- Ensuring all packaging-related project risks are identified, communicated, and mitigating actions are agreed
- Creation and maintaining of all packaging material specifications as well as providing packaging data for the product code creation process and briefing and maintenance of bills of materials
- Provide the required information for the artwork development process and technical artwork approval through the artwork management workflow
