About the role:
The Senior Plant Technician oversees the planning, coordination, and implementation of operational and maintenance tasks for the plant and equipment at Mt Stuart Power Station in Townsville. Their primary objective is to ensure the continuous economic operation, reliability, efficiency, and optimized performance of the plant.
The responsibilities of the Senior Plant Technician include ensuring safe and effective operation and maintenance of plant and equipment, prioritizing personnel safety, and safeguarding the technical, environmental, and commercial integrity of the assets at all times.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment legislation, standards, and procedures.
- Provide leadership, flexibility, and support for change while driving continuous improvement in performance.
- Competently operate the plant in all modes and carry out maintenance activities within areas of competency.
- Lead Permit to Work (PTW) processes for major activities and manage plant outages and project works.
- Champion key plant areas/systems/processes, such as HSEC, PTW, CMMS, and contribute to their effective implementation and management.
- Participate in the site on-call roster and provide support outside of normal working hours.
- Provide coverage for the Station Manager as required.
What will you bring?
- Electrical Fitter Mechanical & Instrumentation or Mechanical trade certificate and experience in Steam or Gas Turbine operation and maintenance.
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Thorough understanding of condition monitoring methods, rotating equipment & equipment control within power generation or similar heavy industry.
- Advanced computer literacy including experience in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (SAP)
- Experience with SCADA and DCS is desirable.
- Strong, proven, Permit to Work system experience.
- Highly organised self-starter with ability to manage workload.
