The Goal
We are seeking a proactive and ambitious Senior Azure Platform Engineer with a strong background in cloud Platform Engineering, software development, and DevOps. This position will be based in our Melbourne office and will play a crucial role in supporting SportCast's growth.
As a Senior Azure Platform Engineer within the SportCast Infrastructure Team, you will assume a senior role and collaborate closely with SportCast's tech leadership.
The primary focus of the Infrastructure Team is to build, deploy, maintain, and automate our software development pipeline, spanning from source control to production.
The Player
What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with our development and QA teams to improve Sportscast’s software delivery pipeline – from source control through to production
- Utilize industry-standard tools and services such as Terraform, Open Telemetry, and Docker to automate and monitor our software and infrastructure lifecycle
- Collaborate with other engineers to build out a library of infrastructure and pipeline templates to allow self-service by development teams
- Drive improvements to our monitoring and alerting posture to detect and resolve issues in real time
- Be involved with the design of new software solutions from the drawing board; ensuring they are deployed in a highly available configuration following recommended best practices
- Leveraging modern Azure PaaS and IaaS services such as Event Hub, Service Bus, Container Apps, and Function Apps to add resiliency to SportCast’s global platform
- Champion cloud best-practices while mentoring and upskilling junior team members
What you’ll bring
- A relevant computer science degree, information systems degree, or equivalent work experience.
- More than 2 years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, encompassing various aspects such as CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with Cloud Service Providers – our cloud of choice is Azure but experience with AWS/GCP is highly regarded
- Experience leveraging infrastructure as code to build out cloud environments. (We use Terraform, but any tooling experience is welcome)
- Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker, Azure Container Apps, Azure Kubernetes Service, or other managed container services
- Demonstrable expertise leveraging Azure PaaS technologies, such as but not limited to, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Hub, and Cosmos DB
- Hands on experience working with CI/CD tools to automate the software development lifecycle
- Familiarity with different monitoring and logging solutions available on the cloud
Nice to haves
- Hands on experience working with managed Kubernetes providers: AKS, EKS, or GKE
- Experience implementing monitoring patterns with Open Telemetry, Grafana, Datadog or similar
- Experience working with distributed event-driven architectures leveraging services such as Kafka, Event Hub, and Service Bus.
- Previous experience building out highly available systems supported by zero-downtime deployments
- Experience with one or more programming languages – such as C#, Python, Go or Java.
