The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking to recruit Senior Privacy Managers to contribute to an ambitious and exciting work program which may include:supporting the delivery of the ABS privacy management program in collaboration with stakeholders and partnerssupporting and promoting privacy-by-design across the organisation to embed good privacy practices into the design of business practices, technologies and physical infrastructuresunderstanding the ABS data environment and data policy landscape and identifying changes to the broader privacy environment that may impact the privacy work programbuilding and sustaining relationships with stakeholders across the ABS on privacy matters to support critical ABS programs, projects and initiatives - this can include:o undertaking, or providing advice on undertaking, privacy threshold and impact assessmentso supporting external consultations on privacy matterso providing advisory support to ABS business areas on privacy matters.What we are looking for (selection criteria)To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience: ability to apply critical thinking and reasoningwell-developed conceptual and analytical thinking, and problem solvingwell-developed written and verbal communicationa high level of professionalism in all dealings with internal and external stakeholdersability to apply project management methodsability to work independently and act collaboratively as a team member (in co-located and distributed settings)ability to manage a small team.You should have sound knowledge of privacy obligations and practices as well as a basic understanding of ABS business, or an ability to quickly acquire such knowledge, and be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and record of successful delivery.As the Privacy Section’s forward work program is likely to include data ethics, applicants with experience in data ethics and data governance are encouraged to apply.Formal qualifications in law, privacy, policy or project management would be highly regarded.How to applyTo apply, you will need to upload your current resume, provide referee details and provide a statement of claims (no more than 500 words) addressing how you possess the necessary qualities, skills and experiences for the role.
