About the role

This this is not your run-of-the-mill Purchasing or Compliance role, this position is firmly focused on the commercial aspect. Our Procurement team craft strategic solutions, shape policies, and drive progress with every decision. At Development Victoria, we value collaboration, and we encourage a dynamic environment where project delivery teams orchestrate procurements with the support and expertise of our Procurement Team.

As Senior Procurement Business Partner you will work alongside dedicated teams delivering transformative projects that benefit the Victorian community. As a commercially focused individual, you will play a pivotal role in enabling procurement activities to achieve strategic objectives, drive value for money, and engage with the market effectively.

Core Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Procurement Strategy and Compliance, this involves close collaboration with project delivery groups across various domains. As a key liaison between procurement and project teams, you'll contribute independently to the development and enhancement of commercially sound procurement and sourcing strategies that drive project outcomes whilst complying with government policies.
  • Your leadership skills will empower project teams to adopt best for project procurement approaches while navigating Victorian Government policies to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Collaborating with Procurement and Social & Economic Impact teams, you'll explore opportunities for significant social procurement and policy outcomes, all while staying within project budgets.
Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in related field (commerce, finance, construction, engineering and/or legal).
  • Graduate qualification in a procurement related field desirable but not compulsory.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating, managing and resolving commercial issues that arise in the delivery of multi-million-dollar projects with proven skills in delivering commercial project outcomes within specific timelines.
  • Proven analytical skills to deal with a range of complex legal, commercial and contractual arrangements inherent with a range of different commercial delivery and transaction structures and the State procurement environment.
  • High level conceptual and commercial skills including the ability to analyse complex issues, conceive and develop strategic directions, and negotiate key outcomes with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high level advisory, negotiation, written and interpersonal communication skills, with proven ability to work effectively within a politically sensitive environment.
