The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Finance Manufacturing team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Senior Procurement Specialist. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with the Refractories Manufacturing team, developing contracts and ongoing management of our vendors. Working closely with our vendors you’ll ensure timely supply to maintain our continuous manufacturing cycle and manage operation of the contract cycle through sound contract management.

Working closely with the Refractories team, you’ll manage the portfolio of contracts whilst supporting the team in cost management, and contract administration, assist with making informed decisions encompassing partner relationships, contracts, performance and supplier risks. You’ll work strategically to support the decision-making process through market intelligence, data collection, modelling and analysis in order to provide recommendations to optimise service delivery now, and into the future.

What Will You Do?

Working closely with Manufacturing Procurement and Refractory Services, you will deliver continuous improvement outcomes through effective contract, supplier and/or process management. You will also:

• identify and implement value creation, cost mitigation and process efficiency improvements in alignment with the objectives of Manufacturing Procurement and Refractory Services
• manage assigned contracts and supplier relationships to deliver optimal cost, quality, risk mitigation, safety and environmental requirements of stakeholders
• drive contract performance through improving processes, enhancing efficiencies, increasing productivity, benchmarking and adopting best practices, leveraging technological advancement and improving controls
• influence and partner with key internal stakeholders   ensuring alignment of procurement initiatives

• relevant tertiary qualifications in either commerce, finance, engineering or business
• procurement experience in a similar environment
