Your day to day
Product Designers at Tanzu Labs work with product managers, engineers, and client stakeholders on radically collaborative teams. To us, design is not a phase but a first-class member of any functional software team. Tanzu Labs Product Designers work on one team at a time and stay engaged for the whole product lifecycle. We work with clients, users, and teammates to design valuable and shippable products. We measure progress by shipping software, not wireframes.
Together with product managers and engineers you will work in autonomous, cross-disciplinary product teams which solve problems together. In a team, you will reflect regularly on how to continuously improve team collaboration and the product you are building.
As a consultant who coaches on-the-job, you will build a shared understanding of trade-offs, risks and direction with other team members and client stakeholders. Mentoring with empathy and kindness, you will help other members understand the ins and outs & pros and cons of principles, practices and patterns applied in modern software development.
We stick to a strict 7.5 hour a day schedule, and we firmly believe in work-life balance. You will be able to do your best work in a sustainable fashion, supported by those around you.
On your first day, you will have
- Experience leading and conducting user research, both generative and evaluative, through an inclusive cross-discipline process
- A strong, structured approach to communication and desire to work in a collaborative environment
- An empathetic and structured approach to enable the client designers with user centred design practices and responsibilities in a balanced team environment
- Ability to ambiguity through solid command of a user-centered design process
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
- Design Leadership abilities to undertake explorations into new technologies and territories while also delivering practical designs in a fast-moving product-driven context
