Our new Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager will find themselves involved in project delivery, project cost control, resource management, client management, project reporting and close out, and business development. Adequate support will be provided for continued growth and development. 

Your duties will include:

• Work closely with clients, engineers, and design teams to craft detailed project plans and project Specific solutions for geomembrane cover needs.
• Lead and inspire your project team, comprising Project and Site Engineers, Project Supervisors, and crew, throughout the planning and construction phases.
• Analyze project details such as contract documents, drawings, and specifications to facilitate the creation of schedules, work breakdown structures, estimates, and budgets.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of project specifications and objectives, offering technical guidance and executing project plans effectively.
  • Consult with technical team members to ensure the overall design intentions are achieved.
• Coordinate procurement, logistics, and subcontractors to ensure the prompt delivery of materials, equipment, and personnel for project execution.
• Mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with the projects by developing robust risk management strategies and contingency plans.
• Manage resources efficiently, from initiation and planning to scheduling of all necessary plant, labour, materials, and external resources.
• Enforce rigorous quality assurance protocols and inspection procedures to uphold the integrity and performance of geomembrane installations. 
• Uphold safety as a paramount value in all project endeavours, establishing and enforcing safety protocols, procedures, and training initiatives. 
• Develop project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts, actively monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. 
  • Maximise project profitability and assume overall accountability for the delivery of the project;
  • Identify any deviations from the agreed scope and promptly communicate variations or concerns to the client.
  • Ensure client invoicing is completed to maximise positive cashflow.
• Formulate project schedules, timelines, and milestones, tracking progress and deploying strategies to maintain adherence to schedules and meet project deadlines. 
• Act as the main liaison for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations effectively.
• Ability to work towards tight deadlines while being resilient and collaborative; remain calm under pressure;
• Prepare weekly reports on the status of the project to the Divisional Manager;

KPI Measurable metrics:

Safety and Quality :

The safety and Quality incident rate is a KPI that measures the number of safety incidents per hours worked. A lower incident rate indicates a safer work environment. 

Time and Cost (Actual Labour Productivity and project Efficiencies Vs Budget) :

Cost performance is yet another construction KPI that includes important metrics like cost variance, cost efficiency, and the cost per m2 on a construction site.

Project Schedule performance to access project timeline. Schedule variance shows the difference between planned and actual project timelines, while the percentage of work completed shows how much of the project has been completed compared to what’s on the schedule.

Project Risk Management :

Additionally, a risk management KPI will evaluate the identification, mitigation, and response time to project risks. Worksite efficiency is a KPI that relates to the cleanliness of your construction site and helps to minimize disruptions and delays.

Client Feedback form to be completed at the end of each project

About the applicant:

• Must have 5+ years’ experience in project management and/or site engineering roles with a civil contractor
• Must have worked for a self-performing contractor
• Experience managing construction contracts and commercial matters
• Highly desirable - degree qualified engineer (civil, structural, or mechanical)
• Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills
• Excellent contract understanding, negotiation and management skills
• Ability to lead and motivate team members
• Ability to prepare technical construction execution management plans
• Able to establish close working relationships at all levels of the business as well as with client and key stakeholders
