About the role
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer with SMP / civils experience to join our Rail Operations hub to work on the Cranbrook Rail Outloading Project based in the Albany Region of Western Australia. This role will operate on a FIFO or DIDO basis.
Rail Operations is an internal business unit within Laing O’Rourke, specialising in the sole delivery of all aspects of Rail, working with a team of technical experts to deliver a high portfolio of work across Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the achievement of Laing O’Rourke’s safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe and un-environmentally conscious working practices and occurrences.
- Provide Project Engineering support to the construction teams to facilitate the construction process;
- Ongoing monitoring and reporting of work progress;
- Direct interface with the construction crews/subcontractors to collect data on information required for project status, cost reporting and forecasting.
- Support the site construction crews with developing and communication of work packages.
- Assisting with technical queries.
- Provide direction and supervision for Site and Project Engineers, as required.
About you
- You will hold a tertiary degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience working for Tier 1 construction contracting companies in Australia on SMP resource projects.
- A strong commercial acumen.
- Strong problem solving, organisational and communication skills.
- A high attention to detail.
