About the Role
This is an outstanding opportunity for a suitably experienced professional to take up a 12 month contract role within the busy Stay in Business (SIB) Projects team for the Iona Gas Plant – Lochard’s premiere gas storage and processing facility.
Being a solution driven professional, you will take ownership of projects and act as the primary interface, managing and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
With a demonstrable track record of managing projects through the entire project lifecycle and of having a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of what a good project looks like, you will build and maintain strong relationships with Operations, other internal business units and Contractors as you assist the team in achieving milestones and other key project objectives.
Although based out of the Melbourne offices, this role requires time spent onsite, so you must be prepared for frequent travel to Port Campbell.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, document, communicate and meet the projects requirements (scope, cost, schedule and quality)
- Effectively manage assigned budgets within the total scope
- Deliver projects in accordance with the project delivery framework
- Ensure effective change control over the lifecycle of the projects
- Proactively resolve performance, scope and schedule issues as they arise
- Manage the development and progress of the project schedule through the respective phases
- Work with engineering, operations, contractors and vendors to efficiently define facility problems or opportunities and manage feasibility studies and concept stage options screening
- Supervise work in accordance with the approved schedule (design and construction) including field supervision (where required) to support Execution and Turnaround teams
- Monitor cost aspects of the project to forecast final costs, identifies trends and takes action to avoid cost overruns.
About You
Exceptional communication, a fine eye for detail and the ability to work autonomously are essential to the successful delivery of this role and as such we’re expecting a proven track record in all three.
You should be comfortable managing professional and trades personnel as well as engineering contractors and consultants whilst using your emotional intelligence and relationship skills to get things done and deliver on the critical path.
Ideally you will have:
- Extensive experience working as a Project Engineer - a minimum of 10 years’ projects experience, 5 of which must be within Hydrocarbon industry.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (or Institution of Engineers Australia approved equivalent).
- In depth knowledge of project management processes
- Strong working knowledge of engineering and procurement systems and procedures
