The Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium-scale IT projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines). The role will identify, assess and manage risks to ensure that realistic project plans are maintained and ensures regular and accurate communication to stakeholders.
The role will also provide effective leadership to the project team and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances and engage proactively and collaboratively with suppliers to resolve incidents, problems, or unsatisfactory performance.
Report directly to the IT Solutions Director, this role will be majority remote working but with the requirement to be in the office when the business needs in either our London or Milton Keynes offices. Occasional international travels may be required to manage projects.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The primary responsibility of this role will be to take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of small to medium-scale projects, engaging with stakeholders and actively participating in all phases of the project.
You will:-
- Identify, assess and manage risks and issues which could affect the success of the project
- Monitor costs, timescales and resources used and acts where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensure that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria
- Manage the change control procedure and ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off.
- Gain agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors and other stakeholders (e.g. design authority, project board, change authority) as appropriate
- Carry out business impact assessment, to determine how changes from the current to the future processes and structures will affect business units and roles
- Assess the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; identify readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live
- Collect supplier performance data (quantitative and qualitative) and investigates problems
To be successful in this role, you have:-
- Experience in delivering global projects, system development life-cycle and implementing enterprise-scale programmes and manage a team of IT professionals
- Project leadership skills, with direct responsibility for managing project teams, budget and schedule
- Succeeded in delivering high quality results on schedule and within budget
- Knowledge on the requirements of the organisation for systems, products and services and with the use of systems, products, services and components provided by suppliers
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to effectively develop materials that are appropriate for the audience
- Contracting procedures within the organisation and has some experience in the development and operation of an SLA
