CopperString 2032 is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the power grid in Australia. The Copperstring project will increase the transmission capacity to 500kV and build 840 kilometres of transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa. This project will further unlock the renewable energy potential of this region.
We need your specialised engineering and project management expertise in the development of high voltage transmission infrastructure to support the CopperString project delivery.

The role responsibilities include interface and project management of value engineering, managing tendering activities and other CopperString project engineering aspects of the project.
You will be our technical expert and act as the primary interface between the Queensland Capacity Network (QCN) and the project team for the CopperString project.

• Provide assistance to the leadership team to regularly coach and mentor team members.
• Oversee and manage the interface, design, construction and commissioning of QCN works within the assigned area for Project CopperString 2032.
• Assist in the delivery of scope outside the QCN works as directed by the leadership team.
• Leadership of assigned project team including task assignment, performance monitoring and coaching, and teamwork.
• Simultaneously manage multiple large-scale projects with varying complexity and scope, including:

• Coordinate the safe delivery of assigned projects to the approved budget, time and infrastructure specifications, standards, policies and practices
• Manage the development of the project scope documentation and estimates
• Develop a comprehensive Project Management Plan
• Manage the development of contract specifications, conduct tender evaluations and administer contracts

What you’ll bring

• Degree level qualifications in Engineering and/or Project Management
• Significant relevant program and/or project management experience in the development of high voltage transmission infrastructure

We’d also need you to have demonstrated knowledge, experience and success in:

• Coaching and mentoring of personnel in the delivery of infrastructure projects.
• High voltage power systems particularly secondary systems and/or telecommunications
• Project and construction management, in the electrical/ telecommunication industry.
• Leading the delivery of multiple complex projects through application of project management techniques.
• Safe systems of work, resulting in safe outcomes and/or performance improvement.
• Contract management/administration including the application of AS4000/2124 General Conditions of Contract.
• Overseeing the performance of contractors and related service providers.
• Managing and leading a project team to ensure compliance with the relevant environment, community and landholder relations obligations.
• Developing outage plans

This role will be part of a high performing CopperString 2032 project delivery team and will initially be based in our Copperstring project office in Bowen Hills. You will be required to visit the project sites for extended periods based regional and remote areas in North Queensland.
