About us:

East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC) provides services to nine remote communities across East Arnhem Land. We are dedicated to promoting the power of people, protection of community and respect for cultural diversity. Working with EARC will mean that you will be part of a wider team that is passionate about the people it serves, and you’ll have access to career growth and professional development opportunities.

East Arnhem Land is home to incredibly rich Indigenous culture and boasts some of Australia’s most unique landscapes, ranging from rich red bauxite soils to pristine white sand coast lines. With activities such as fishing, boating, camping, walking and exploring the diverse vegetation and landscapes right on your doorstep, working with the EARC can offer you a great work life balance.

About the role:

You will have strong working relationships with direct service providers, internal and external customers, working parties and cross functional teams as appropriate. The position requires positive working relationships with all other areas of the organisation, particularly, Directors, Program Managers, Team Leaders and staff.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Developed management skills 10+ years, including the ability to develop business cases, specifications, tender documentation and guide project analysis activities.
  • Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in related discipline (i.e engineering, architecture, building trades, project management).
  • Key Stakeholder engagement and management experience with all levels of organisation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of national quality standards, specifications and land development processes as applicable to projects.
  • Solid computer literacy skills, inclusive of Microsoft office suite, Excel, AutoCAD – Revit or similar drafting platforms, design and presentation software applications.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and ability to influence outcomes to achieve project objectives.
  • Developed communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings, briefs and presentations as required.
  • Ability to engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders and staff at all levels.
  • Hold a current ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural environment.

Employees must also be prepared to travel to remote communities via various means, including 4WD vehicles and light aircraft.

Employment with the EARC is subject to a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the inherent requirements to their position.

A full Position Description may be obtained by visiting our website.

What you'll get in return:

A Full Time Fixed Term (2 years) position receiving a salary of $104,109.93, plus superannuation and locality allowance. You will also benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.

Housing and Relocation Assistance are not available with this role. Access to own housing is a must for the successful candidate.
