The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Legal Assistant to join our Melbourne Commercial Disputes & Insolvency team on a full-time basis supporting leading Commercial Litigation Partner Darren James, a Consultant, Special Counsel and two Solicitors. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide vital administrative support to the team and contribute to the success of the practice and its clients.
Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Answering phone calls and assisting with client enquiries;
- Diary management and scheduling meetings;
- Assisting with monthly billing and client reports;
- File opening and closing, system and matter management;
- Organising and coordinating team and client events;
- Assisting with collating briefs and with preparing court and other documents; and
- General administrative support to solicitors.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant in commercial litigation ideally from a reputable commercial litigation practice. Some prior experience in product liability, financial services and insurance litigation will be advantageous, though is not essential. You will be proactive and take pride in your work, have exceptional organisational and time-management skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, and excellent attention to detail. The successful candidate will have proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and document management systems.
