IMT supports the entire CSIRO environment and has an extensive portfolio of responsibility that covers the traditional enterprise ICT environment and also, specialised high-performance computing designed to support Australia’s premier research organisation. IMT Project Managers not only support ICT driven projects but also support projects in the research space with a significant digital element.
IMT is currently leading several strategic programs of work including:
- Enterprise Services Transformation
- Digital Enhancement of the Science Agenda
- Digital for labs
- Managed Data Ecosystem
- Cyber Security Uplift
IMT is currently seeking Project Managers across three domains and candidates should nominate which areas they have experience in:
- Cyber Security – This role will directly support our Cyber Security Uplift, Project Managers interested in this role should demonstrate awareness of the Commonwealth Government cyber landscape and have experience in projects related to cyber and information security.
- Enterprise scale ICT Infrastructure – This role will support our enterprise grade ICT infrastructure, Project Managers interested in this role should demonstrate experience in large scale compute, storage or data centre environments.
- ICT Applications – This role will be supporting our Application and Information Management Services teams, Project Managers interested in this role should demonstrate experience in ICT applications including on premise and cloud based approaches.
Your duties will include:
- Plan and Manage multiple, and complex, projects using methodologies appropriate to the project and the context (i.e. agile, kanban etc)
- Deliver projects to scope, budget, schedule and stakeholder expectation and with appropriately mitigated risks
- Support, mentor and enable team members to do their best work
- Identify and manage project risks and issues and escalates any that may impact delivery
- Facilitate creation, review and stakeholder acceptance of project management products and deliverables
- Lead change management associated with the delivery of projects
- Effective transition of new products or services into the business-as usual environment.
Location: CSIRO IMT sites Australia wide
Salary: AU$121k - AU$142k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
Essential
- Demonstrated experience with a minimum of 5 years in project management within the ICT sector including management of multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects to scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectation
- Displays effective communication skills with all staff, clients, and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s productivity and reputation.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, often regionally dispersed team and business unit to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO objectives.
- Applies sound judgement in relation to resolving project delivery issues
Desirable:
- Experience or formal training in project management associated with the delivery of major/complex projects; and
- Effective transition of new products or services into the business-as-usual environment.
