What will you do?

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey with Target Australia's Stores Technology team? Our team is at the heart of delighting our customers and enhancing their shopping experience; and are transforming our stores with the power offered by AWS Cloud Technologies.  Initially focussing on our Point-of-Sale Systems across both staff-assisted POS and self-checkouts, we’ve also got some exciting work coming up with the rollout of RFID technologies to our stores.  Our team is at the heart of driving a seamless transaction experience for our customers.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, functionality, and overall quality of our in-store tech. Your responsibilities encompass leading and implementing comprehensive quality assurance strategies, conducting thorough testing of software and devices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address potential issues. Leveraging your expertise, you contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, advocate for best practices, and actively participate in the development lifecycle. In this dynamic role, your focus on maintaining high standards of quality is instrumental in delivering technology solutions that enhance the in-store experience for our customers and optimise operational efficiency for Target Australia.

You'll also be doing the following:

• Becoming an expert on the function and operation of in-store devices in our Lab, you'll be on the front lines of testing, ensuring our technology is stable in the fast-paced atmosphere of a real-world retail setting.
• Getting to know the tools and systems that power Target Australia, exploring ways to understanding their functionalities and applications within stores, and leveraging this knowledge to enhance the quality assurance process.
• Leading the charge in testing automation, you'll bring efficiency to the forefront, implementing automated solutions that propel our quality assurance practices into the future.
• Understanding their functionalities and applications within stores, and leveraging this knowledge to enhance the quality assurance process.
• Collaborating with the team during the transition of systems into AWS cloud, actively contributing to the quality assurance aspects of the migration process, ensuring that the performance, security, and functionality of the technology solutions are maintained or improved upon in the cloud environment.
   

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

• Demonstrated experience testing retail systems, including Point of Sale (POS), highlighting your ability to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of critical technology in a retail environment.
• Proven expertise in working within fast-paced Agile environments, adhering to best practices in iterative development cycles, ensuring that testing processes align seamlessly with the rapid pace of technology delivery.
• A dedicated advocate for continuous improvement, actively seeking opportunities to enhance systems, processes, and methodologies, contributing to the evolution of quality assurance practices within the team.
• Effective communication skills, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring that complex testing concepts are conveyed in a clear and understandable manner.
• Genuine interest in automation technologies, expressing curiosity and eagerness to explore ways to drive their adoption in the testing process, contributing to the efficiency and scalability of quality assurance practices.
