About This Opportunity 

We are seeking a highly skilled  Research Assistant (or Research Analyst) to join our team in the Epidemiology and Global Burden of Disease Research Stream. As a key member of our research group, you will play a crucial role in supporting high-quality research outcomes at all stages of the research life-cycle.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Assist in designing complex research studies.

  • Undertake complex research tasks aligned with scientific discipline or methodology.

  • Apply specialised technical skills and knowledge to research activities.

  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, technical activities, and results.

  • Develop comprehensive instructions for self and colleagues.

  • Promote a proactive safety culture within the research environment.

  • Ensure compliance with approved ethics protocols.

  • Contribute to research outputs, including joint preparation and authorship of reports and manuscripts.

  • Supervise and mentor junior Research Assistants and students..

There are two full-time (100%), fixed-term positions available from 1 July 2024 through to  31 December 2024. At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You  

Completion of a relevant degree with subsequent experience in coordinating research activities or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills, including expertise in a wide range of specialist and general research techniques. This includes conducting systematic reviews of assigned topics adhering to established methodology. Expertise in research design, allowing critical evaluation and synthesis of publication contents. Advanced knowledge of research design, research processes, mental health, public health principles, and epidemiological methods. Relevant experience in extracting and summarizing data from literature, conducting statistical analysis, and quickly applying this knowledge in the workplace.

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. 

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
