Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Assistant in a fixed-term full-time role to join the onsite Microba Laboratory Team located at our Molecular and Genomics Therapeutics Laboratory in Woolloongabba.
Term: Fixed-term contract (June 2024- November 2024)
Remuneration: An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Location: Translational Research Institute, Princess Alexandra Hospital Complex (Woolloongabba) Postdoctoral Research Scientist/Senior Research Assistant (Cell Biology/ Immunology).

As a Senior Research Assistant, you will play a vital role in contributing to novel microbiome therapeutics in a well-equipped laboratory environment. To apply you must meet the following criteria:
• Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, including nucleic acid extractions, PCR, ELISA assays.
• Handling of primary cell culture (human PBMCs and cell lines)
• Experience with flow cytometry desirable
• Microbiology skills, including sample and media preparation desirable
• Undergraduate degree with Honours in a relevant field OR equivalent laboratory experience over a 3-year period
• Demonstrated experience in meticulous data entry and analysis with strong attention to detail
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skillset
• High-level problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
• A curious and innovative approach to achieving team and vision success.
The role is within the therapeutics laboratory team, reporting to the Principal Scientist. The position will focus on the development of immunology-based assays for allergic diseases, and the potential to support microbial culture activities. This role drives microbiome-based therapeutic discovery through the provision of quality services, ultimately supporting Microba’s strategic decision-making and global impact.
