Our mission is to transform the landscape of battery reuse and recycling, reducing environmental footprints, enhancing safety measures, and unlocking new market potentials.
To help us achieve this vision, we are seeking a Senior Research Engineer in Battery Technologies – someone with a strong chemical engineering background, coupled with extensive research and development experience. Ideal candidates will possess deep insights into battery cell design, electrochemistry, safety protocols, health assessments of end-of-life batteries, and performance optimisation of retired EV batteries. Join our pioneering team as we lead the way in repurposing, and recycling of lithium-ion battery, harnessing innovative technologies to transform used batteries into valuable resources, driving sustainability, and shaping the future of energy.

Qualifications & Experience
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
• A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
• A PhD in chemical engineering.
• Significant experience in research and development related to battery cell design, and battery testing.
• A thorough understanding of health and safety issues of electric batteries, particularly lithium-ion.
• Hands-on experience in a laboratory or industrial setting, conducting experiments related to materials recovery.
• Familiarity with recycling processes, materials recovery, and the circular economy principles applicable to battery materials.
• Evidence of research excellence through publications.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in mineral processing is desirable.
Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, fixed term position attracts remuneration of $97,113 to $108,813 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
