Mortlock Research Fellows x 3

Level B ($107,276-$126,894) or Level C ($130,810-$150,431) per annum, plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation

Full-time positions available immediately, for a fixed term of 3 years in the first instance

The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine is a world-class leader in both research and industry engagement. The School seeks to appoint three emerging leaders in one or more of the agricultural science disciplines supported by the Mortlock Bequest. These include but are not limited to crop and pasture improvement (including grasses and horticultural crops), bio/agricultural chemistry, agronomy, genetics and plant breeding, entomology, plant pathology and plant physiology. Applicants who have expertise in related future-facing discipline areas will also be considered.

The appointees must have domain knowledge and discipline expertise as well as excellent collaborative and communication skills. An open, collegial approach to developing innovative ideas with colleagues from other disciplines and an understanding of related disciplines will therefore be an advantage, as will experience working directly with the agricultural sector.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD qualification in one of the above discipline areas and experience in a collaborative research environment commensurate with the Level applied for
  • A strong publication record (relative to opportunity/seniority) and demonstrated ability to attract external research funding
  • Strong organisational, time management, intercultural and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of the ability to translate research into real world applications
  • Demonstrated evidence of engagement with industry to advance agricultural science.
