Salary: Level C – $140,433 - $161,926 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role

As a Level C, research-focused academic at the University of Melbourne, you will make substantial original contributions to research in physiotherapy, Gait Analysis, and Cerebral Palsy (CP) management. You will be responsible for securing national research grants, leading research projects, producing high-quality publications, and playing a key role in staff supervision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead research projects, including seeking and securing competitive national research grants and collaborations for the Gait Lab team.
  • Communicate research findings through quality conference papers and publications.
  • Foster collaborations within the Melbourne Children’s Campus, contribute to the development of innovative measurement and assessment tools, and conduct world-leading research projects such as high-quality Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs).
  • Provide leadership in staff supervision, undertaking probationary and performance management processes, offering coaching and guidance for career planning, and allocating and monitoring research workloads.

Who We Are Looking For

You have demonstrated skills in research and project coordination, showcasing a significant contribution to independent and team-based research in physiotherapy practice. With strong interpersonal and communication abilities, you excel in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, embodying ethical scholarship and valuing diversity. Ideally, you possess a notable national research profile, evidenced by successful research funding, a strong publication record and supervision of higher degree students.

You will also have:

  • PhD in a relevant field or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Physiotherapists Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency).
  • A minimum of ten years of paediatric physiotherapy experience.
  • Knowledge of motor function in children with disabilities, particularly Cerebral Palsy
