About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Research Officer who has relevant experience to join our Regulated Worker Standards team.
The Senior Research Officer will work as part of a team providing direct support to Fair Work Commission Expert Panels and Full Benches overseeing the setting of minimum standards orders for regulated workers (employee-like workers and road transport contractors) and road transport contractual chain orders under Part 3A and 3B of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
As a Senior Research Officer, you will use your in-depth knowledge of the federal workplace relations system, including the Fair Work Act 2009, to research and analyse complex workplace relations issues, and to draft, proofread and review documents prepared by other team members to ensure that findings presented are accurate. You will also have an important role in contributing to the supervision and development of team members and setting work priorities.
Duties
- Contribute to and provide day-to-day leadership of a team undertaking research and analysis on complex workplace relations issues (including issues in relation to regulated workers and the road transport industry) and prepare or review reports and other written material to support the work of Expert Panels and Full Benches.
- Co-ordinate and undertake administrative tasks supporting the work of the tribunal in relation to minimum standards orders and road transport contractual chain orders, including publishing material on the Commission’s website, dealing with enquiries to the team inbox and sending subscriber emails.
- Draft, proofread and review documents prepared by other team members such as briefing notes, web materials, information materials, determinations and correspondence. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to develop team members.
- Maintain records, manage documentation and workflows and collate reports using the organisation’s record management, filing and reporting systems.
- Contribute to the development of team policies and procedures in line with requests from statutory appointees and the Commission’s business objectives. Develop and build team capability to support policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director, Assistant Directors and/or the Executive Director, Labour Standards Support.
