The Role
An exciting opportunity exists within the Directorate of Health Research for a Senior Research Officer to help drive and deliver the ADF health research agenda.
The successful applicant will:
- Work with key internal and external partners to identify health research agenda that meets the strategic and operational priorities of Defence.
- Draft complex and routine documentation, including requests for tenders, ministerial briefs and other general Departmental correspondence.
- Work across Defence and with Australian government agencies or external research stakeholders to support the conduct of high-quality health research that is of strategic and operational importance to Defence.
- Contribute to the synthesis, translation and communication of research outcomes in health research of relevance to the Defence population.
About our Team
Joint Health Command (JHC) provides a joint health effect to enable ADF capability and care for our people. Through the delivery of best practice health services, JHC enables a healthy, ready, and supported Force from enlistment through to transition. As part of Defence People Group, we make a direct contribution to the ADF's operational capability and provide crucial support to the warfighter.
The Directorate is responsible for strategic Defence health research, including Defence health research governance, support to health research initiatives, and health research dissemination and translation. The team identifies and manages strategic health research priorities as well as engaging with internal and external research partners to undertake health research design, delivery and support to JHC. Directorate responsibilities include conducting, commissioning and facilitating health research, including quantitative and qualitative research, data management, analysis and reporting.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of health research design, statistical methods, analysis and applied research skills.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly and succinctly.
- Experience in supporting or managing the conduct and delivery of applied health research including: research design methodology, project management, data analysis and reporting.
- Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, internal and external to the Branch to see the delivery of research projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high functioning team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and complex taskings within tight timeframes.
