The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are looking to apply your research experience in a mental health setting, your interest in working with Aboriginal young people and their families as well as your outstanding project management skills!

Working closely with our research and project teams you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of this new study, including:

  • Obtaining ethics to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Recruiting and engaging with participants.
  • Monitor study progress and ensuring compliance with the study protocol.
  • Collect, manage and analyse complex and sensitive data.
  • Produce high-quality research outputs.
  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders across the program, including Aboriginal communities. 

You will be directly supported by lead researchers and have a chance to develop your leadership skills by mentoring and supervising research staff involved in this project. 

Conveniently located within the Perth Children’s Hospital, this part-time (0.8FTE) opportunity will be offered for three years in the first instance. 

About You

This position is well suited to someone passionate about improving mental health outcomes, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.

The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline, such as psychology, public health, implementation science. 
  • Evidence of research experience in a relevant mental health discipline, preferable in child and youth mental health research and/or trauma, including evidence of academic writing (grants submissions/reports, ethics submissions/reports, and publications).
  • Demonstrated experience in providing health or other information to communities, families and individuals in a culturally appropriate way.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a high performing team and to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with and respect diverse peoples, including Aboriginal, culturally diverse and gender diverse people.
