Embrace @ Telethon Kids is Western Australia's first research collaboration devoted to the mental health of infants, children and young peoples aged 0-25. Our work aims to improve access to infant, Child and youth mental health support, investigate the complex relationship between infant, Child and youth mental health and to support the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Officer to assist the leading clinical psychologist and Associate/Professor Jeneva Ohan in developing a new program of research on Child and Family mental health and wellbeing. The Senior Research Officer will provide Child and Family mental health and wellbeing research support to the team, secure funding for future projects, and create collaborative networks within the academic and local community. In particular, they will lead ethics applications, supervise staff and students and apply for grants.
Some of your duties will include:
- Independently undertake data collection, management, qualitative analysis and interpretation with some supervision when required.
- Engage in collaborative research to the highest scientific and ethical standards and implement best-practice research processes.
- Contribute to research that has a significant impact in their field of expertise.
- Lead the preparation and submission of funding applications.
- Write and monitor ethics applications.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have a PhD relevant to psychology, mental health, public health, or a related field and be passionate about improving mental health outcomes for young people.
The key to your success will also be your demonstrated experience in the following:
- Experience conducting research in a field related to psychology and/or mental health and/or Child and Family wellbeing.
- A track record of scientific publications in reputable peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrated experience in line management of junior research staff & students.
- Experience working with stakeholders from the education, government, non-for-profit and/or healthcare service sector.
- Ability to work with and respect diverse peoples, including Aboriginal, culturally diverse and gender diverse people.
