0.8 FTE to 1.0 FTE Fixed Term Contract for 3 years (with a possible extension of 2 more years on the contract)New and exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Support Officer to join the Translational Neuroimmunology Group at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.Works across two sites within the premises – the Department of Neurology at Concord Hospital and the Kids Neuroscience Centre at the Children’s Hospital at WestmeadBase Salary for HEO Level 6 ($95,860- $103,341and HEO Level 7 ($104,633- $113,992)+ 17% superannuation - (with the final position offered based on the selected applicant’s track record and expertise.)About the opportunityConcord Repatriation General Hospital (CRGH, or Concord) is proud of its healthcare service excellence and leadership in clinical care. Since its establishment as the 113th Australian General Hospital in 1941, Concord has built on its strengths of providing quality health services to returned servicemen and women and local communities, as well as undertaking world class clinical education and research.The Kids Neuroscience Centre is a flagship laboratory and clinical research centre driving innovative research in neuroimmunology, neurogenetics and neuroscience. It is located at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This precinct provides quality care and clinical services to 90,000 children each year. It is the largest paediatric centre in NSW and provides tertiary care for children from NSW, Australia and across the Pacific. TThe University of Sydney is seeking to employ a Senior Research Support Officer to manage a research program funded by Category 1 NHMRC/MRFF funds led by Chief Investigator Associate Professor Sudarshini Ramanathan, who leads an exciting research program and heads the Translational Neuroimmunoloy Group at the University of Sydney.In this role, you will play a key role in providing Research Support and clinical trial knowledge and expertise to the research program. You will operate within the Department of Neurology at Concord Hospital and the Kids Neuroscience Centre at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.Your key responsibilities will be to:Work under the guidance of the group leader of the Translational Neuroimmunology Group, while demonstrating a strong capability for autonomous work and problem-solving.Facilitate the successful commencement, progress and completion of clinical trials in autoimmune neurology.Lead research database set up and management, data input and data analysis, coordination of biospecimen collection and biobanking.Assist with the preparation, submission and execution of ethics and grant applications, ensuring all requirements and reporting measures are satisfied.Assist with the administration of executing clinical trials and grants, collaborative research agreements between clinical sites and research institutions, and budget and compliance monitoring.Assist in the quality activities for clinical trials, patient recruitment, operational support, data and sample collection, safety, regulatory timelines, patient follow-ups and efficient delivery of research.Liaise with patients and potential trial participants for consent, facilitate study recruitment, enable data entry and patient follow-up.Directly maintain a productive working relation with all research staff and indirectly with investigators, Clinical Research sites, Clinical Research Coordinators as well as trial sponsors, in order to achieve successful national and international clinical trial outcomes.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations related to clinical trials.Enable the successful set up, progression and completion of research projects and publications, and dissemination of research output on behalf of the Translational Neuroimmunology Group.Perform work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the Chief Investigator.About youA minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting is desirable.Demonstrated experience with electronic data capture systems (such as RedCAP), Endnote files, electronic medical records (EMR) and databases.Previous experience working on clinical projects within an academic, CRO or pharmaceutical environment, include exposure to, and experience in participant engagement, writing reports within predetermined timeframes and detection and reporting of protocol deviations.Understanding of research protocols, as well as the capability to complete ethics submissions and grant applications.Documented ability to screen, recruit, enroll, and follow patients in clinical trials.A demonstrated ability to efficiently manage complex multisite coordination and engagement.Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills.Demonstrated experience in performing initial submissions to ethics and regulatory committees, including negotiating site contracts and budgets.Demonstrated ability to independently conduct all clinical site activities according to the monitoring plan and in accordance with the study timelines.A sound knowledge and understanding of regulations governing clinical research, ICH/GCP Guidelines and applicable regulations.Demonstrated ability to act as a central point of contact at investigator meetings and site visits; manage all aspects of the clinical monitoring process.The ability to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders.Experience in patient recruitment and clinical trials with a proven ability to excel in communicating with participants.Note: Please be advised that the interviews for this role will be conducted mid of May.
