The Role
Our Residential Care & Transition Services (RCaTS) team currently have a vacancy for a Part-Time Senior Residential Care Worker, working 60 hours per fortnight. Working within a residential program, the Senior Residential Care Worker (Senior RCW) will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Residential Care Workers (RCWs) in providing daily care for children/young people. The Senior RCW reports to the Care Team Leader and will also work closely with the Area Coordinator.
$41.52 - $44.68 per hour (award) plus superannuation plus generous salary packaging available
What you’ll be doing
- Working hands-on as part of the team while ensuring individual plans are being implemented, the Model of Practice is being followed and children/young people are being supported appropriately
- Provide formal supervision to RCWs in their house / program
- Ensure the effective implementation of daily house programs
- Respond to critical and non-critical incidents in line with organisation and legislative requirements
- Assist with the accurate collation of data and provide reports in a timely and professional manner in accordance with organisational requirements
- Contribute to a positive and effective team culture that is responsive to cultural diversity and equity
About you
As the successful applicant, you will possess:
- To be eligible to apply for this role, as a minimum you must be willing to enroll in, hold or be currently enrolled in and working towards a relevant Certificate IV (or higher) qualification that meets the Minimum Qualification Standard for Residential Care Staff in Queensland.
- You are resilient, mature, patient and confident working with challenging behaviours such as verbal and physical aggression.
- You must hold or be prepared to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Ability to do shift work, including sleepovers, and work weekends and Public Holidays.
- The ability to maintain extreme confidentiality is essential when providing service to clients and external stakeholders from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- You must hold a current Provisional Green or higher Queensland Driver’s Licence.
- You must hold or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and be able to obtain a positive Police Check and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
- An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice is highly desirable.
