We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior SCADA Engineer at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
About this role
As the Senior SCADA Engineer you will be required to develop and apply high level subject matter expertise and engineering experience in delivering complex SCADA and Information systems to ensure high availability of Western Power’s real time systems.
Take a lead role in maintaining and co-ordinating relationships with other internal technical sections, to ensure alignment with the rest of the business with respect to SCADA and Communications.
- Identify, investigate, assess, and develop new technologies, standards and processes in line with SCADA and Communications strategies.
- Undertake identification and technical evaluation of appropriate SCADA and Communications systems to meet defined technical objectives.
- Negotiate and influence internal stakeholders and external customers to optimise SCADA and Communications engineering solutions.
- Act as a “centre of technical excellence” within the Business providing high level technical leadership and advice on best practice where required.
- Coach and mentor SCADA engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Provide “subject matter expert” advice to others.
- Lead Investigations on issues related to Tx & Dx SCADA commissioning, faulty operation of SCADA system and incorrect ICCP configurations raised by either AEMO or internal stakeholders.
- Ensure SCADA system and database is configured, tested in time, and commissioned correctly in Master Station to meet project schedule.
- Ensure processes and tools are suitable and being used appropriately.
- Participate in strategic planning and standardisation works related to SCADA and Communication strategies and standards.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Electrical).
- Eligibility for full membership of Engineers Australia.
- Extensive experience and knowledge in Power Utility Systems and in a SCADA or Control Systems role.
- 10+ Years engineering experience.
- Strong demonstrated experience in SCADA systems and the commissioning of such systems across both Transmission and Distribution networks.
- Advanced research and investigation skills.
- Strong knowledge of current technical developments in the field of SCADA or Communications systems.
- Knowledge in specification and management of processes, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of data management systems.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence.
- Collaborative mindset and team orientated delivery focus.
- Enthusiastic and driven to achieve.
- Engineering leadership capability to support/lead other technical experts.
