  • Clerk Grade 7/8 with salary ranging from $106,025 to $117,363 + super

About the role

The Student Support and Specialist Programs Directorate is looking for a Senior School Support Officer who will be managing a range of duties including assisting in school facing activities, responding to critical incidents, and communicating with school staff and principals. This is a varied role where you will be managing and mentoring an experienced team, supervising caseloads, and managing training events and resources. The role predominantly supports schools with international students and ensures that they remain compliant with State and Federal legislative requirements.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic person with strong negotiation and reporting skills who can collaborate with Senior School executive as well as other key members of the school’s International Student Program. We would also like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working in schools and superior organisational skills.
  • Sound understanding of MS Office and the ability to analyse data reports
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present and create presentations for different school groups.
  • Ability to work closely with and manage the changing needs of the team.
  • Experience with initiating improvement projects and enhancing effectiveness of program delivery
  • Project management skills are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check) for paid employment.
  • Hold a valid NSW drivers’ licence.
  • Ability to travel to schools across the state.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours to attend to cases requiring urgent escalation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of public education.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • Experience in implementing student support processes that comply with the ESOS Act and the National Code.
  • Experience in the management of international students in schools.
