Status: Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the State Head of Department, Biochemistry, this role has the primary responsibility for automated workflow and state-wide oversight of quality control.
About The Role:
- Coordination of automated workflow to ensure the provision of efficient and effective laboratory services
- Liaison point between and within the department
- Providing direction to SENIOR SCIENTISTs, scientists and technical staff within the department
- Troubleshooting
- Assist with training and assessment of workplace competencies
- Assist in the management and administrative tasks of the department, including rostering and resourcing
- Responsibility for the management of the department in the absence of the Head of Department
- Monitoring of QC state-wide – including actioning, coordinating interlaboratory comparisons and troubleshooting
- Interpretation and review of QC and QA performance
Selection Criteria:
- Ability to act independently and within established guidelines, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and sound judgement
- Exceptional accuracy in data transfer operations
- Highly developed organisational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new laboratory information systems
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a thorough knowledge of quality control and quality assurance
- Experience in operating and troubleshooting modern automated technology
- Commitment to continuing professional development, education and training
- Appropriately qualified with a relevant tertiary qualification
- Eligibility for membership to the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, or the Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine ( or equivalent).
