An exciting opportunity exists to join the Tumbatin Development Services Service as a Senior Social Worker. This is a part-time permanent position up to 35 hours per week. The possibility of job-share arrangements will be considered. The position is well supported by a team of specialist developmental clinicians and by the social work department. There are clinical supervision and professional development opportunities to meet the needs and career development interests of the successful applicant.
What you'll be doing
The primary focus of this position is to provide a comprehensive and specialist social work service to children, young people and their families referred to Tumbatin Developmental Clinic for developmental and behavioural assessment. This includes psychosocial assessments, specialist counselling, group work, psycho-education and advocacy. The Social Worker works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
The Senior Social work is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both Social Workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The Social Worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders.
- Eligibility for AASW membership with significant post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
- Substantial post graduate experience in social work practice with children and their families.
- A well-developed knowledge of the psycho-social challenges facing families living with complex developmental disabilities/concerns and a sound knowledge of relevant community resources and support services available to the children and families.
- Significant post graduate experience in a variety of social work interventions/modalities including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling, group work.
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, professional education activities, service planning, and quality improvement activities.
- Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
