Their offices are in a beautiful, listed building on Peel Street and are quite frankly fabulous! Open plan and airy and modern and casual. No suits here.
There is not much hierarchy and they don’t take themselves too seriously. It is mostly guys aged 20s to mid 30s. There is a real sense of fun, practical jokes and the like. I have placed 3 people there now, and have had many meetings with their CEO, CTO and new GM. Their interview and offer process is quick and efficient and will include technical testing, a face to face interview, reference checks, psych testing and offer.
Clients mostly need them when their software projects are either hard and a COTS product won’t suit or when they have tried to develop something internally or using another development company and it hasn’t ended well!
So, what you will be doing won’t be boring – on the harder side of the scale then! If you are technical and want to stay that way their development program with set you on the right course, equally if you love customers or management or sales you can go down that route. Most roles will have elements of solutions, delivery, business analysis, and testing, if that lot floats your boat, if not no worries, because they have all those skills in-house.
There is flexibility in start early, finish early, work from home when you need to, but honestly, the offices and the vibe are so good, I would want to be there all the time!
They are big enough and long-established enough to have good clients, robust cash flow, established systems, and HR, but small enough to still be a fun place to work!
There are a lot of good reasons to join them! For starters, they are well established (est. 2002) and growing (currently around 45 staff). They have a diverse range of contracted customers across different industry sectors. This not only means there is a great variety of work on offer, but also that the company has proven to be resilient and offer great job security – even at the height of the pandemic.
All of their work is based on .NET but they also have maintenance and uplift projects in older WebForms technologies all the way through to new greenfield projects starting in the latest technologies like Angular, Xamarin and Blazor.
The culture is one of taking pride in your work and management being there to help rather than micromanage or meddle.
They are a company full of self-starters who love what they do and thrive on creating great customer outcomes and coming to work and helping each other out with difficult problems. Some of the team like to work on a single project for long periods of time, others like to work on multiple projects and thrive on variety. Many staff love the professional development program that can help you master your technical skills (Specialist Pathway) or learn to lead small teams and take ownership of customer accounts (Lead Pathway).
They are not for everyone – you’ll need to be organised and good at planning your work. You need to love what you do and take pride in quality. You need to love learning and helping your teammates with challenging problems. You need to show initiative and be flexible to new challenges. You’ll get to work with and learn from people who are at the top of their game.
Why do they need you?
They have a ton of work coming their way and need to grow, so if you work with an awesome dev, feel free to share this PD with them and you could end up still working together!
They are a custom software house (more about the tech later) and have built up a great track record over the last 19 years. They work on projects of all shapes and sizes and the work they do is challenging, yet interesting and rewarding.
Your role might include working on cutting edge health, mining or finance solutions for leading national companies, helping develop their own Proptech product or working with entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life; in other words, plenty of variety and plenty of opportunities for career advancement.
