About the Role
Reporting to Urban & Regional Strategic Planning Manager, the Senior Strategic Planner is a pivotal role within the Urban Planning and Development team responsible for management of Flood & Development Planning Scheme Amendments, Incorporated Plans, Development Plans and urban infill site specific and precinct amendments.
This role will assist in the project management of flood related Planning Scheme Amendments from inception to gazettal. It will include the coordination of planning related project control group meetings with council, drafting of explanatory reports and ordinance, notification and consultation, the review and responses to submissions.
- Support Strategic planning activities to ensure that new flood hazard information is updated in council planning schemes.
- Ensure that changes to planning policy in respect to flooding are implemented through the planning scheme amendment (or declaration process)
- Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation of planning policies and guidelines.
- Respond to amendments which propose to support future urban renewal or intensification as initiated by Councils or the Victorian Planning Authority
- Ensure relationships with Councils, State Government and other key customers and Stakeholders are enhanced and maintained.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience of Victorian Planning Provisions (Strategic Planning policies and relevant legislation)
- Experience in submitting at planning panels (preferred)
- Proficient understanding of Storm water and floodplain management
- Strong interpersonal, presentation skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people, sometimes in conflict situations.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to facilitate mutually agreed outcomes.
- Ability to work with stakeholders to build, maintain and improve relationships.
