We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.
The Role
CBCity has a rewarding opportunity to join our City Strategy and Design unit as a Senior Strategic Planner. In this role you will assess both Council and applicant-initiated planning proposals, prepare Development Control Plans for individual sites and city centres, negotiate draft Planning Agreements with proponents, prepare submissions to State Significant Development and Infrastructure projects, and assist with reviewing, updating and preparing strategic planning policy. You will have a high level of technical proficiency in strategic planning and the ability to draw on a wide range of experiences when facing new challenges.
Other integral components of the role are communicating effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, managing specialist consultants for advice and preparing reports that will seek advice to Council and its Local Planning Panel.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Work on a range of planning projects and activities to develop, implement and review Council’s planning policies, land use strategies, and planning instruments.
- Apply a wide range of planning experiences and high-level technical proficiency to solve complex planning challenges.
- Assess planning proposals and provide advice to Council about whether to proceed.
- Prepare and progress Council initiated planning proposals.
- Prepare consultant briefs and work with consultants of various disciplines to inform decision making.
- Improve Council's processes and systems as they relate to urban planning and development matters.
- Review and confirm the accuracy of information contained on Section 10.7 Planning Certificates before being issued to customers.
You will have
- Current Class C driver's licence.
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a team to deliver solutions to complex strategic planning problems.
- Sound understanding of planning legislation, state planning policies and planning instruments.
- Working knowledge of planning processes, particularly in relation to the plan making process, local environmental plans and development control plans.
- Experience working on planning projects involving a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of State and Local government authorities and the private sector in planning matters.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $97,993 (Grade H, Step1) + car allowance + 11% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
