About the roleIn this role, you will facilitate sustainable development and growth of communities within the City of Greater Geelong through the coordinated delivery of planning and infrastructure for new communities in accordance with strategic plans. This role is also responsible for the management and facilitation of growth area and urban renewal project implementation.
Work type: Permanent Full time Classification: Band 7 ($100,064-$110,990 pa plus super)
Key responsibilities include:
Manage and action projects that ensure the City’s new communities are delivered in an orderly and timely manner in accordance with strategic plans, relevant legislation, Council Policies and Procedures.
Implement strategic plans, precinct structure plans, developer contribution plans, guidelines, policies and planning scheme amendments to enable development in greenfield and urban renewal areas.
Provide professional advice and expertise which ensures strategic planning visions and objectives are achieved as part of the development of urban growth and renewal areas.
Represent the Planning & Growth Unit on internal and external groups as required.
Build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and agencies to ensure effective project delivery, coordination and support.
Prepare, review and present project briefs, funding submissions, Council reports and briefing papers as required.
About youTo be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in strategic or statutory planning, project management, infrastructure development, property development or related field and a proven ability to use GIS programs, CS Design Standard and Sketch Up would be highly regarded.
Essential Experience:
Substantial experience in projects or programs which enable the delivery of new communities in both greenfield and urban renewal contexts.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills including negotiation and mediation skills.
Knowledge of planning legislation, practices and techniques relating to greenfield and urban renewal development.
Strong conceptual skills with experience in conducting research, analysing data and synthesising results to inform the development of new communities.
Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage own time to achieve targets within a set timeline.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and contribute to a positive team environment.
