Downer Group are seeking a Senior Sustainability Advisor. Reporting to the Group Manager Climate and Sustainability, this is a significant position within our Group Environment, Sustainability and Reporting function. Downer is a prominent integrated service provider across the transport, utilities and facilities sectors in Australia and New Zealand. This position can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

- ESG and investor surveys (e.g., CDP, S&P Global CSA)
- Sustainability and climate related disclosures
- Sustainability data collation, management, and reporting and use of related systems
- Energy and emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) accounting
- Decarbonisation initiatives across a range of sectors (transport, utilities, facilities)
- Sustainable finance
- Develop sustainability and climate disclosures (e.g., Annual Report and Sustainability Report).
- Lead responses to investor and ESG analyst benchmarking surveys and reports.
- Assess ESG performance to provide best practice strategic and technical advice across the business.
- Contribute to critical reporting processes for sustainability and climate related data (e.g. energy, GHG emissions, water, waste) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform analysis on energy and emissions performance in conjunction with the Group Sustainability & Climate Manager.
- Promote sustainability awareness initiatives across the business.
- Provide input into management strategies around current and emerging sustainability risks and opportunities (legal, reputational, operational).
- Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, accounting, law, or a related field.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in:
- sustainability consulting or related roles,
- internal corporate sustainability roles
- Experience with sustainability frameworks, certifications, and standards, such as GHG Protocol, GRI, ISSB, TCFD, and SDGs.
- Experience with regulatory requirements in Australia and New Zealand would be highly regarded.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication, project management and presentation abilities.
- Ability to engage stakeholders and convey sustainability concepts.
- Resourcefulness and willingness to suggest process optimisation and continuous improvement opportunities.
